Information You Submit
A name, phone number, or address entered in a search form is sent to the third-party provider that supplies the results. Our servers do not retain a copy of those search entries. When a visitor contacts us, we receive the content of that message and use it to respond.
Automatically Collected Data
Standard hosting logs may record an IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and timestamps. We review that information in aggregate to operate the service and understand use of its pages. Cookies or similar technology can support basic analytics and, where applicable, advertising measurement.
How Information Is Used
Information is used to run the service, address technical problems, measure traffic, and improve the reference pages. We do not sell visitor lists or create profiles of individual visitors.
External Links and Tools
Links can lead to county and state record portals, library collections, archives, and third-party search tools. The privacy policy of the destination controls data submitted there. That includes sponsored search results supplied by a third party.
Data Recipients
Hosting and support providers process server logs on our behalf. Analytics and advertising partners can receive the automatic information described above. We disclose information only when valid legal process requires disclosure.
Safeguards and Retention
The service uses an encrypted connection, and logs are retained only for the operational purposes described here. Because there are no user accounts, the service does not hold a visitor password or user profile.
Visitors Under 18
This service is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a minor has sent information to us, contact us so it can be deleted.
Your Data Choices
Depending on where a visitor lives, that visitor may have rights to ask for access, correction, or deletion of personal data a service holds. Since we keep little, a request generally involves checking the contact mailbox and available server logs, then removing applicable information. Use the Contact page to make a request. South Carolina public records held by state, county, or city custodians are outside our control: S.C. Code Ann. §§ 30-4-10 through -165, including § 30-4-30 on access and § 30-4-40 on exemptions, governs non-exempt public records; S.C. Code § 30-2-10 et seq. restricts commercial-solicitation use of government personal information; and vital records remain controlled by § 44-63-80. Requests concerning those records belong with the custodial office.
Policy Updates
Updates to this policy will appear here. Continued use after an update means the visitor accepts the revised policy.
